What a small group champagne tour actually is
It is a shared day at a set time. You join other travellers in a minivan, follow a fixed
programme, and pay per person. Every one of these days puts the cellar visits and tastings in
the fare, and every one refunds in full if you cancel 24 hours ahead.
Most leave Paris between 7:15 and 7:45 am, or collect you from your hotel, and are back
around 6 pm. Others start at Reims station after a train you book yourself. Some need a
minimum number: My Winedays runs with at least four, and the Reims afternoon with two. If a
date falls short, the operator offers another date, another tour or a refund.
Why choose a small group tour
The lowest fares in the region
The Reims afternoon costs $152 per person, and shared days from Paris start at
$268. A private car for the same day costs from $550 per person.
A minivan, not a coach, on most days
Most shared days cap you at seven or eight. The all-inclusive minivan day and BackTrip's
day stop at seven. The Go Go Tours days take up to 23, 24 or 25, and their cards say so.
Growers you cannot reach by train
The family growers are in villages among the vines, not in town. France Intense, Sparkling
Tour and À La Française visit growers only, and My Winedays and Blue Fox pair a grower with a
big house.
Lunch at a known price
Lunch is in the fare on the My Winedays days, the Go Go Tours lunch days, France Intense's
Reims day, Sparkling Tour's day and the minivan day, which adds breakfast. You know the whole
cost before you go.
Small group tours from Paris vs from Reims station
The real choice among the shared days is where you start. Here are both, side by
side.
| From Paris | From Reims station |
|---|
| Fare | $268 to $443 per person | $152 to $286 per person, plus your train |
| You meet | At your hotel, or a Paris kerb at 7:15 to 7:45 am | At the station tourist office at 9:30 am or 2 pm; one day at the cathedral |
| Length | 10 to 13 hours door to door | 4.5 to 8 hours from Reims |
| Getting there | About two hours by road each way, in the fare | 45 minutes by TGV from Gare de l'Est, booked by you |
| Who pours | A big house plus growers on most | Growers only on most |
| Lunch | In the fare on the My Winedays, Go Go Tours lunch and minivan days | In the fare on France Intense and Sparkling Tour |
Check availability from $286
Start from Paris if you want to be collected and brought back, and do not mind four hours
on the road. Start from Reims if you want more of the day among the vines. France Intense
suggests the 8:28 TGV from Paris-Est, arriving at 9:14, Monday to Saturday. It also notes
there is no train for its Sunday start in July and August. The afternoon day fits a late
train: the Reims afternoon with two family growers meets at 2 pm.
What you get, and what you don't
- Always in the fare: the minivan, your guide, and the cellar visits and
tastings.
- Hotel pickup: on the My Winedays, Go Go Tours and BackTrip days, and on
the minivan day. The other Paris days meet at a kerb.
- Lunch: in the fare on the days above; yours on Blue Fox, Champagne
Tasting Tours, Wine Tours Paris, Go Go Tours' 25-seat day and the Reims afternoon.
- Not included: tips on most days, drinks at lunch beyond what is poured,
and your train on the Reims days.
- Not guaranteed: a named big house. Shared days fill it by
availability.
Three family growers and lunch, from Reims station
Sparkling Tour pours nine champagnes, serves a two-course lunch with a glass and caps the group at eight adults.

Planning a small group champagne tour
- Budget: $152 to $443 per person, plus your train for
a Reims start and lunch where it is not included.
- Be early: Champagne Tasting Tours leaves Boulevard Saint-Germain by 7:30,
Wine Tours Paris leaves Place d'Italie at 7:45, and Blue Fox asks you to reach Café Dada 15
minutes early.
- Check the minimum age: Sparkling Tour takes adults only, France Intense
starts at 12 and Blue Fox at 7. Go Go Tours pours grape juice for under-18s. Our
champagne day with kids post has every rule.
- Dress for the cellars: they stay at 10 to 12 °C all year, so bring a
layer and flat shoes.
- Cancellation: free up to 24 hours before on every shared day.
Who should choose something else
- If you want your own pace or a named house. A private champagne tour from paris gives you the
car and, on several days, Moët & Chandon or Veuve Clicquot in the fare.
- If a larger group would spoil it. Avoid the Go Go Tours days and pick a
cap of seven or eight.
- If you travel with under-18s. Skip Sparkling Tour's day, and check every
other age line before you pay.
- If a 7:15 start is too early. Take a morning train to Reims and join an
afternoon day there.
- If you only have an evening. A champagne boat tour paris is 75 to 90 minutes on the
Seine.
Frequently asked questions
How small is a small group?
Seven or eight guests on most days, in a minivan. The Go Go Tours days are larger, with caps of 23, 24 and 25, and one of their lunch days prints no cap at all, so read the cap on each card before you book.
Where do small group tours start?
From Paris, either at your hotel or at a fixed kerb between 7:15 and 7:45 am: Boulevard Saint-Germain, Place d'Italie or the Avenue des Ternes. From Reims, at the station tourist office at 9:30 am or 2 pm, or at the cathedral's left-side gate at 9:30.
Which tours start in Reims, and how do I get there?
Several meet at the tourist office on the Reims station forecourt at 9:30 am, the growers' afternoon at 2:00 pm, and one at the left-side gate of Reims Cathedral at 9:30. The TGV from
Gare de l'Est takes 45 minutes, and the train ticket is yours to buy.
Which Paris Champagne tours include lunch?
Lunch is in the fare on the My Winedays days, the Go Go Tours lunch days, an all-inclusive minivan day, France Intense's nine-tasting day from Reims and Sparkling Tour's growers' days. Most other days leave lunch to you, and each tour card says which.
What happens if not enough people book?
Some shared days need a minimum: My Winedays runs with at least 4 travellers and the Reims afternoon with at least 2. If the minimum is not met, the operator offers another date, another tour or a full refund.
Can children come on a champagne tour?
It depends on the tour. Some set no minimum age, others start at 4, 7, 10 or 12, and some take adults only. Go Go Tours pours grape juice for under-18s, so check the minimum age on the listing before you book with a child.
Will a small group tour visit Moët & Chandon?
Not for certain. Shared days name a famous house and fill it by availability, and Go Go Tours gives Moët & Chandon only as an example. For a named house in the fare, book a private day such as Galaxytour's or Le Tour de Vigne's.
