The most common complaint on the Paris days is time in the van, two hours or more each way. A start at Reims station cuts that out, at the cost of a train you buy yourself.
Again and again, the smaller family house is the one travellers remember. Several who had seen a big house went looking for a grower, though a few on grower days wished for a famous name.
Moët, Taittinger, Ruinart and Laurent-Perrier each turn up closed on someone's date. Book early if one house matters to you, and read the listing's substitution line.
Travellers name their guide more often than any house: Alex, Cedric, Chloe, Ivan, Xavier and Zoe among them. On a long day, the commentary is much of what you pay for.
