What a private champagne tour from Paris actually is

It is a day in Champagne for your party alone. You get one car, one driver or driver-guide, and nobody else's timetable. Most private days collect you at your Paris hotel. Galaxytour's two-house day uses two fixed pickup points, and one day takes the high-speed train from Gare de l'Est instead of the road.

You pay per person on most of these days, and several ask for at least two of you. Private Trip prices the whole car: $1,893 for up to seven. Your party can be six, seven or eight at most, depending on the day.

Sparkling Tour's growers' day and France Intense's Veuve Clicquot day start in Reims, not Paris. They meet you at Reims station or your hotel there. You take the train yourself, and the Reims tourist office gives 45 minutes by TGV.

Why choose a private champagne tour

The route bends to you

On a shared day the producers are set by availability. On a private one you have far more say. Private Trip offers Taittinger or Pommery, then G.H. Martel or Telmont, and Finding France builds your day around local producers. Tell the operator what you like when you book.

Named houses in the fare

Galaxytour pays for Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot. Le Tour de Vigne pays for Moët & Chandon and an independent producer at Châtillon-sur-Marne. Parismatic pays for Vranken-Pommery and the grower Michel Fagot. A shared day names "a famous house" and fills it on the day.

Door to door, at your hour

Your car does not stop for anyone else, so your day starts when you are ready. Infant seats are available on many of these days, which helps if you travel with a baby.

A guide who drives, or a guide and a driver

Most private days give you a driver-guide. Finding France sends a private driver and a separate guide. On Galaxytour's days a professional driver takes you, and each house's own English-speaking guide leads you through its cellars.

Private tours vs small group tours

The difference is money against control. This is how they compare, line by line.

Size changes the sums. Private Trip's car costs about $946 each for two, $473 each for four and $315 each for six, with house fees on top. At seven it is about $270 each, close to a seat on the cheapest shared day from Paris. For two, a shared day costs far less; for a family of six, a private car is worth pricing. The small group champagne tour from paris page has every shared day.

The top of the range: a wine expert or a Michelin lunch

Some private days go further than the car and the houses. The Withlocals day ($986 per person) gives you a guide who owns vines. You spend three hours in the vineyards and two on the Montagne de Reims, then Reims Cathedral and Maison Pommery, and lunch is in the fare.

My Winedays' VIP day ($1,229 per person) pours eight or more cuvées at a famous house and an estate. Its three-course lunch is at a Michelin-starred restaurant, subject to availability, so treat that table as the plan rather than a promise.

Finding France ($1,118 per person) adds a separate guide and skip-the-line cellar entries. Le Tour de Vigne ($1,006 per person) caps your party at six, with a wine-certified guide all day.

What you get, and what you don't

A wine-certified guide and Moët & Chandon, for up to six

Le Tour de Vigne pays every visit and tasting fee and books your lunch table. It is the private day marked wheelchair accessible.

Frequently asked questions

What does a private champagne tour cost for two?
At the lowest private fare, $550 per person, two of you pay about $1,100 for Galaxytour's Moët & Chandon day. The whole-car fare works the other way: Private Trip's $1,893 for up to seven is about $946 each for two, before house fees. Your exact total shows when you enter your party.
Can one person book a private champagne tour?
Several private days take bookings for two or more only. Private Trip sells the whole car from one traveller. Travelling alone, a shared day is usually the better buy.
Is lunch included on a private tour?
Only on some. Sparkling Tour's growers' day, the Withlocals wine-expert day and the My Winedays private days put lunch in the fare. France Intense and the high-speed-train day sell it as an option, Le Tour de Vigne books your table, and the rest leave lunch to you.
Are the tasting fees in a private fare?
On most, yes: the cellar visits and tastings are paid. Best of France and Private Trip leave them to you, so you pay each house on the day at its own price, such as €48 at Moët & Chandon or Pommery and €36 at Veuve Clicquot.
Which private tours start in Reims?
Sparkling Tour's three-growers day meets you at Reims station or your hotel in Reims or Épernay, and France Intense's Veuve Clicquot day at your Reims hotel or the station. You take the train from Paris yourself; the Reims tourist office gives 45 minutes by TGV.
Can we choose the champagne houses?
On a private day the route is largely yours to shape, and some private listings let you name the houses when you book, subject to their availability. Shared days assign producers by availability, though a few name the house, such as Nicolas Feuillatte on the Blue Fox day.
Are the houses open in January and February?
Not all of them. Veuve Clicquot's own site shows it closed for the winter from 28 December 2025 to 7 April 2026. Galaxytour's listings say Moët & Chandon also closes in January and February, though Moët's own page states no closure, so check your date.
Is the Michelin lunch guaranteed?
No. The private day sold with a Michelin-starred lunch lists the restaurant as subject to availability, so treat the Michelin table as the plan rather than a promise.
